Wall St. Hustle

Hustle (noun): Energetic and aggressive initiative in pursuing personal goals.
Hustle (verb) : 1) transitive verb to sell goods or services using aggressive sales techniques. 2) intransitive verb to play with great aggressiveness, intensity, and concentration

On January 5th 2010, I picked 5 publicly traded companies and “purchased” 1000 USD worth of stock . (If you have yet to acquire the means to invest, but still would like to see how you would do in the market, use google/finance or yahoo/finance to track your portfolio performance.) I tracked their performance to this day April 10th 2010.

The Five Companies I chose on Jan 5. 2010 were as follows:

Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ)
30 Shares @ 33.34 per share
Cost Basis = 1000.20

Ford Motor Company (F)
90 Shares @ 10.96 per share
Cost Basis = 986.40

The Coca-Cola Company (KO)
17 Shares @ 56.53 per share
Cost Basis = 961.01

Urban Outfitters Inc (URBN)
28 Shares @ 35.56 per share
Cost Basis = 995.68

Mattel, Inc (MAT)
51 Shares @ 19.58 per share
Cost Basis = 998.58

A total portfolio value of 4,941.87 USD with 58.13 left over from the 5,000 planned to invest.

On April 9, 2010. The Portfolio stood at the Market Value of 5,258.82 USD. A gain of 295.22 USD with an overall return of 5.97%

VZ- Overall return= -9.78% MKT value= 902.40
F- Overall return= 16.06% MKT value= 1144.80
KO-Overall return= -3.43% MKT value= 961.01
URBN- Overall return= 8.44% MKT value= 1079.68
MAT- Overall return= 18.39% MKT value= 1182.18

Based on my opinion of current trends, I believe it wise to sell the URBN and MAT stocks and reinvest.
